All bowlers should remember that our start time has changed - bowling will commence at 6:30 p.m. so we can be finished by 9:30-ish. The league starts August 27 at Western Bowl, 4725 S. 131st St. We will NOT be bowling on September 10 (the Annual Affair at the DC Centre), November 26, December 24 and December 31. Our end date is set for April 15.
The cost of bowling remains at $12 per night. I am not sure of the USBC dues, but the good news is that the awards criteria has changed to increase awards available.
Remember that you must be a current member of OSC, and after August 1, you can renew your membership (which expires 09/25/10 for ALL members). As treasurer, I encourage online payment, and if you don't remember your username, just email questions@omahasportsclub.com and we will get back to you.
I have TWO teams who need both a man and a woman, two teams that need at least one male, and another team that probably needs two females. Since we try to get at least eight members on each team, most folks are only scheduled to bowl about 15 of the 30 weeks, so filling our teams is a plus for all. If you or you and a friend/partner have an interest, please email bowling@omahasportsclub.com or leave me a message at 339-7496.
We had 16 ladies (five teams) participate in state this year in Hastings, and had a pretty good showing. I can't find the exact numbers but I believe there are over 2,400 participants in the tournament. Awards are categorized by Division based on the bowlers average.
Darlene Zauss placed 23rd in singles and 35th in all events, Sheryl Park placed 91st in singles and 36th in all events, Sandy Martin placed 97th in singles, and Pat Martinson placed 65th in singles and 47th in all events. Diana Spencer and Marlys Oestreich placed 42nd in doubles, Michaela Starks and Joyce Stoural placed 51st in doubles and Melissa McConkey and Pat Martinson placed 62nd in doubles. I will be organizing teams for this year's tournament in Lincoln in late September.
Don't have any information on how the guys (and gal) performed at men's state but they probably had a good time. If one of the gents involved wants to send me an update, I will be happy to post the news!
See you soon!
